Treyburn Residential Owners Association

Treyburn is a 5,300-acre Community in Durham, NC with a private-owned Country Club and Golf Course at its Center. The Community was actually “founded” in 1982 by Treyburn LLC, a partnership between the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate (a charitable and educational Trust from Hawaii) and a group of prominent business leaders and visionaries including Clay Hamner, Terry Sanford Sr (former NC Governor), Terry Sanford Jr, and Frank Kenan.

In 2002 Treyburn LLC sold the Treyburn Residential Area to Bryan Properties Inc (BPI). For BPI Treyburn was a true gem, ”a veritable landmark” with “a bright future built on the foundation of honoring its past.” Since acquiring Treyburn BPI has continued to develop and expand residential Neighborhoods. They have also worked with Triangle Land Conservancy to preserve over 800 acres of land within the Community in its natural state, including several miles of streams, upland hardwood forests, and important wildlife habitat.

In 2003 BPI turned the Treyburn Residential Owners Association (TROA) over to Treyburn Property Owners. The Association elected its first Board of Directors from among its nearly 500 Owners in August of that year. For the first time in Treyburn’s history the owners had control over their future. The TROA Website “opened” for business in August, 2004 to improve communication between Homeowners and the Board. Treyburn Resident Patti Shipman named the domain and former Treyburn Resident Rob Aston developed the site and served as webmaster until early 2006 when the site was re-designed by Gray Heffner. Gray is currently the webmaster and webhost for the site.
