ALERT

Posted March 16, 2009

On Monday, 3/9/2009, around Noon, a suspicious vehicle parked on Grandwood Cr. (Greenview Townhomes) was reported to the police.  The occupants of the vehicle were observed by a resident leaving on foot into the neighborhood.  The police were called and they came and checked out the car, a silver/blue Honda with an expired, temporary tag.  They could not locate the car's occupants.  Later the same day, a home in the same area, on Fairwoods Dr. was broken into through a basement window.  The locked door at the top of the stairs deterred the  intruders from entering the home further.  The homeowner was not at home at the time, no alarm system (yet), dog was on the deck.  It was reported by neighbors later that the same suspect vehicle had been seen in the driveway of that home for a brief time and the same vehicle occupants were also observed in the area by other neighbors.  Police responded to all reports but were unable to catch the vehicle or its occupants.    Police are following up and also notifying the Durham County Sheriff's Office. Please be on the lookout for this vehicle and call the police at 560-4582 if you have any information regarding these incidents.

Other incidents last week included vandalism of some cars parked on Loblolly.  If at all possible, refrain from parking on the street.  The closer to the house your car is, the safer it should be.  Please keep cars locked and do not keep valuables visible inside them that would tempt someone to break in.

More turf damage occurred on Vintage Hill Pkwy.

The police are stepping up their efforts to stop these activities. PLEASE continue to be observant with regard to suspicious activity and call 911 immediately. The best leads and information come from residents. Please also notify us of activity as well, because we may know of other reports and can assist with connecting incidents. OBSERVE and COMMUNICATE.

Neighborhood Watch is a proven proactive approach to crime prevention that teams Residents with law Enforcement Officers to insure personal safety and home security in the Community. In its simplest form it means Neighbors looking out for one another…and reporting unusual circumstances, crimes, or potential crimes to authorities.

Treyburn’s Neighborhood Watch Program was re-organized in 2006 with the help of the Durham P.D.
